Keep envelopes

It's a hackneyed tactic they all use: giving you X number of days to reply to their letter, but sending their intimidating letter:

  1. days after the date on the letter [always keep the envelope]
  2. 2nd class, and/or
  3. to arrive on a Saturday morning [so you can stew on it all weekend with your stressed-out family giving you doleful looks].

It's also common for lenders to send out letters just before a bank holiday weekend. They are using the same technique - giving you time to stew on it.

Keep the envelope because you may be able to use it as part of evidence to show that the lender did not work with you to resolve the debt in line with the Civil Procedure Rules.
